UX Researchers and Designers know the importance of user behavior analytics—it’s an important supplement to qualitative, self-reported sentiment from users. But it can be difficult to get organization-wide buy-in, especially when it will add short-term work before any reward is seen. Here’s how I pitched implementing user behavior analytics to my product engineering team.
Then I had to figure out how to prioritize our product portfolio for implementation—after all, we had 15 core products! I created a simple equation based on each product’s number of external users, the team’s reported readiness to implement the tool, and the product’s impact on company revenue. We were able to identify three products implement next.
